Do I send a thank you note for a congratulations card? - congratulatory card to my husband on getting a new job

Recently graduated from college, and I received a post card with cash or by check. I'm not complaining, because they do not send messages to receive donations. I know on my diploma, but I know that people send donations, so I bought some thank you notes.

Anyway ... Think sending thank you notes for those who send greeting cards, but my husband says, it can be hard ... As I said, "Gee, I thank you for the card." Not to be rude, or that someone feels uncomfortable, and can not find the "rule" in this case.

I'm sure someone has this situation is encountered, and there is no rule of etiquette is that I can not find. So ...
